Case Studies
Home Office. A young family required internet access throughout their home and their home office, with the ability to monitor the house’s entrances and their children’s nursery from any computer anywhere in the home.
The home office was pre-cabled to CAT5 specifications and had ADSL internet access, situated on the first floor of the home with easy access to the roof space.
During the site survey it was decided that secure wireless access for the main building was the best option with CAT5 cabling for the external cameras and a wireless camera with audio for nursery monitoring, during this visit the optimum position for the wireless access points were located and proven.
By using IP cameras they are accessible via a web browser from any computer on the network and via the internet, with the option to add in a server to enable video recording and intruder alert as a future upgrade.
Medium sized Business. A very busy medium sized business, situated in an area of outstanding beauty, their listed stone built premises are separated by a busy main road. The brief was to enable their staff to have access to email, centralised documents and data with an easy backup solution. They also required access to their eCommerce website hosted in our data centre.
Because of the constraints imposed when working in an area of outstanding beauty we had to make sure that our solution complied to the local planning regulations, also we had to check that our installation complies with any listed building regulations for the premises.
The two office networks were joined together using secure wireless bridges and specialist external antennas, Secure wireless access points were installed through out the buildings to give coverage for all new computers and a Continental Small Business Server.
The Continental Small Business Server is individually specified to match the client’s business needs. The operating system used is Microsoft Small Business Server to give Outlook functionality and shared data. We use Dantz retrospect to backup the server with remote diagnostics and support.
